The term network marketing is generally used in two ways. It is used as a synonym for multi-level marketing and is often mistaken for a pyramid scheme. In a typical MLM business, you will connect yourself with a parent company as an independent contractor. You will be compensated based on your sales of the products, as well as the sales that those in your downline have achieved. In this type of business, your commission will only be earned when you or your downline sell the company's products. You cannot earn money from recruiting alone.
Sometimes it can be difficult to determine which network marketing business is legitimate and which is merely a scam. New MLM businesses may use terms like affiliate marketing or home-based business franchising. When you think of network or relationship marketing, you probably think of having to go door to door, organizing open house parties and presentations, and hitting up your friends and family, as well as anyone you come into contact with. Sure, you could do these things; however, most people do not see doing this as a particularly reasonable way to do business. There is another way.
How would you like it if people approached you to join your business? Would it not be great if you did not have to conduct face to face meetings at all? The way to avoid having to do all of that is to run your network marketing business by using the internet. Some people do not think that you can run a successful networking business solely online, but the truth is that you can. Creating a website and sitting back waiting for the cash to roll in is not the way to run a successful network marketing business online. You will still have to work just as hard in a network or MLM business online as you would at managing an offline network marketing business. Also, running the business solely online just means that you will be getting your lead generation and pre-qualification work done.
It does not mean that you will never have to make connections in the real world or speak to a person face to face. One thing you need to know about running a marketing business is that it is simply a numbers game. This is what make it the perfect business to be run online. Anyone who runs a website will tell you that their focus is the traffic that they generate.
You will want to get as many people to your website as you can. Statistics show that 2% to 4% of visitors will click on a link that can garner revenue for you. Of those, 1% of them will purchase something after clicking on your link. This is why high traffic is so important to your business. Network marketing is a fairly simple business when you get down to the bare bones of it.
It is all about generating good leads, qualifying those leads, and then following up on them until the lead takes the action that you want them to or they tell you to stop contacting them.
